TONI'S ROUND ROBIN

I did not attach each piece so you can swap them around if you want to Toni. The lady bug is stitched with invisible thread so don't use an iron directly on it...and don't let it be too hot...(I learned this the hard way).

Hope you like it.

I made these two jean quilts for Ty and Adrienne for Christmas-- which they love! Everytime I try to take a picture someone thinks they need to be the model. :) Thanks Mom for your help!

BASKET

This basket is as cute as it can be. I wondered on to a blog and this lady had done like a bazillion of them for her husbands teachers (I guess he is a principal). Anyways, I had asked her for the pattern and so here it is.... go to
www.ayumills.blogspot.com/2008/05/tutorial-fabric-basket.html. It is along the same lines of making a tote. Hope you enjoy!

OVEN MITTS

It is Christmas morning, everyone is still sleeping so I am browsing the quilting blogs and I happened upong this site www.savyseams.com/apt/mitt.php#oven. I thought this would make some good gifts for next year or birthdays. If James was up, I would be making these now.... I really didn't want to post this infront of Jennifers tree skirts...so I am going to take one and put it to the side.

Blue Walmart Quilt

I had to tie this quilt, I had to have it done by this Sunday and well, I know my limitations....so.....I did it the fastest way I knew how. I normally don't tie my quilts...but oh well......

BEVERLY'S ROUND ROBIN (THE FIRST ONE WE DID)

Isn't this awesome!!!! I thought mine was the prettiest but this is coming in close
second.....we all think ours is the best...so it is confirmed...they are all awesome.

TOTES AND MORE TOTES

I was staying with Dot and RB (remember the older couple I taught how to sew quilts) well....I was sitting there with her and she mentioned that she didn't know what she was going to do for Christmas because money was tight...and it hit me...TOTES!!! She was so excited.

So during the week of Betty's funeral I would cut out totes, show her how to sew them...leave....come back and reshow her.

So these are all the totes we made. She was thrilled to be able to give her family something for Christmas. She even made a cloth sack for the summer sausage for the men.

Now I am hoping that her family doesn't watch my blog...I don't think so....

If so....oops....

TABLE RUNNERS

I had made these table runners a while back for Dot, while I was at her house, I just went through and took pictures.

Quilt by R.B. and Dot Patterson

About five years ago I taught R.B and Dot to quilt, they were in their late 70's. They have done over 60 quilts since and this is one of their latest ones. R.B. has a nack for putting anything together and it works. They have thanked me over and over again for teaching them since it has given them something to do. We would garage sell together and see who could get to the material first.

I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME!

I told moma a while back that the thread on the island only breaks in my machine. So frustrating.....

Yesterday a gal dropped off her machine for us to use....but she gave some thread saying that the island thread won't work in her machine that she has to order hers off island. Whoooooohooo, so it is not just my machine, it is the island thread. I even brought a bunch of thread when I got here because it was cheap...cheap is not always best and island thread just doesn't cut it.

When Toni showed me her RR I was so excited when I saw this quilt book on sale, just knew it would help me with her square...but I was worried that her block would come in before I would get this book. Well....she sent me her block a few weeks ago, priority...and it is not here yet and the next round is starting. We will have to wait and see.... Jennifer, I know you will like this book as well....it is awesome. AS for the other sisters and one mother, I know they don't like applique.

If you are wondering why I have not been putting my quilts and crafts on this site lately, the reason is because I am busy building the www.bejeweledquilts.blogspot.com. I am also very busy with the Christmas play....are you sick of hearing me talk about it...just think how I feel, I am the one going up and down the hill each day, totally stressing over the costumes and getting them cut out and done. If you go to www.Savior of the worldlds.org you can see the play that we are doing.

Ode to My Wife-The Quilter

She learned to quilt on Monday
Her stitches all were fine
She forgot to thaw out dinner
So we went out to dine

She quilted miniatures on Tuesday
She says they are a must
They really were quite lovely
But she forgot to dust

On Wednesday it was a sampler
She says the stippling's fun
What highlights! What Shadows!
But the laundry wasn't done

Her patches were on Thursday
Green, yellow, blue and red
I guess she was really engrossed
She never made the bed

It was wall hangings on Friday
In colors she adores
It never bothered her at all
The crumbs on the floors

I found a maid on Saturday
My week is now complete
My wife can quilt the hours away
The house will still be neat

Well, it's already Sunday
I think I'm about to wilt
I cursed, I raved, I ranted
The MAID has learned to QUILT!

TO BE FAIR

I have posted several items given to me by family but to be fair, Margaret crocheted me this beautiful table cloth. The hours that went into it was amazing and the workmanship was out of this world. I will cherish it forever but do not have a picture of it and do not have it with me. I wanted to bring it but knowing about the mold problem, I did not want to bring it with me. One day I will post a picture of it. It is amazing but things that were brought for me are just not quite as valuable as those things that have been made for me. Of course, we are not talking about the diamonds and jewels my husband lavishes on me (ha!!!)......still laughing.

I did not take a very good picture of this but it is a beautiful wall hanging made by Jeanette or one of her daughters. I love this as well... In Texas this hung in my laundry room, it matched the walls so perfectly. Occasionally I would just walk by and touch it and look at all the fine details. I have it here in Samoa, I think it came here by accident (things I wanted to preserve were left in Texas Storage). I have it hanging from my Bakers rack.

This bag was made by Toni when she was living at my home during Katrina. She made her one and me one. I simply lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve it. I use it all the time here in Samoa and everyone ask me if I made it....I smile and say "Nope, my niece Toni did." It is very special to me and I often look at the craftmanship and just smile at what a wonderful job she did.

Margaret's block

Well I finished my block. Now I need to mark my grid and I can send it off. Actually I need to go buy Annie and Benjamin something first. I can't send a package without sending them something too.
Now this is a classic example of not picking the right colors. But in a way it helped me since none of the seams wanted to match up.

Bev's RR square

I took the liberty of taking a photo of Beverly's RR square. It's very nice. I'm trying to come up with what to do...hum...

Does anyone know how to rotate the picture?

Quilt Tops

I've been meaning to get these out there but never found the time. These are a few tops that I've put together recently. The 1st one is for Benjamin and the last one is for Annie. The red one is for Jessie - he's like mama -LOVES red. And the blue one is for me. Sorry the pictures aren't that good, I didn't have space to hang them right now. This should make Barbara happy - an entry that's not hers.

HOW TO ADD A PERFECT BORDER.

Remember to double click to read this article.
I remember years ago talking to Jeanette on the phone and I asked her how to make a border that doesn't wave. She told me how to do it over the phone. So if there is a new quilter out there maybe this article will come in handy and save you alot of stress and time trying to achieve the perfect border.

Jennifer's RR Square

Walmart Quilt

Shelving

I went to the store to buy this one shelving unit for my material and stuff that lined the floor (what a mess, I was tired of it). I thought the cost of this unit was $98.00, I got there and it was $149.00...sheweeeeee. Well...I wasn't going to get that, too much money. Instead, I found these metal cubes that attach to each other and they were about 1/4 the price of the metal shelving unit. I feel so good to get all that stuff off the floor and to have somewhere to put my projects that I am working on. It is great.

ANOTHER GARAGE SALE FIND!

I found this quilt at a garage sale. It was hand pieced but unfinished. So I finished it on the machine and hand quilted it (finished it last night). What is so interesting about this quilt is, I found the quilt in pieces, didn't have a border. So out garage selling again and found this border, which matches a few of the pieces in the quilt. What a find!! I sure miss garage selling. Now all I need to do is bind it. The binding will be red, same material as the backing and it looks like it is old enough to be in the time period of the top of the quilt.

Basket quilt

This was sent to me from Aunt Barbara. She sent me one of her unfinished projects, the baskets. All I had to do was sash them. I would wait till it's completely finished. But that could take awhile, I need to find fabric to back it.

Toni's square

I know it's simple, but I think it will look cute with everyone adding to it.

DOWNSIZED

Round Robin Square - Barb

Well, mine is done. Don't worry, you all still have a month. Vance is just leaving for Hawaii on the 31st so I finished mine up so he could send it from there. Along with the square will be coming matching fabric. I will probably have to down size my square so don't let it bother you much when planning your squares.

All IN A DAYS WORK!

This is one of those quilt that was tagged for someone. That someone being Kevin. When Sue passed away, Teresa gave me this partially finished quilt along with some material. I worked on this in the past but just never finished it. I think one reason was that I did not have any border materail. I think I have found some that will work. It is just like the black in the quilt but with bigger flowers. I am happy to have this one almost done. Just a border and then ready for quilting. I am sure I will hand quilt this one. Sue loved all my sons but Kevin had a special place in her heart since she was around Kevin the most.

PROJECT OF THE WEEK!

I got this quilt kit from Connecting Threads. I usually don't buy kits (except for Walmart quilt of the month)but I have looked and looked at this one for a long time and have wanted to order it. It went on sale and so here it is. Now for those of you out there, have you ever had a day when you keep guessing yourself? Making small mistakes?.....Well, when I was cutting this out, that was me. I should have at that time just stop and take it up another day. You would think that 1/4 of an inch would not make much difference but it does. David was on the computer while I was cutting this quilt out...I kept calling myself stupid....he would say "Mom you are not stupid"....well....I should have stopped working....I was having an absence of brain matter that day.... Even still, it turned out pretty but not perfect. I want perfect....when I achieve it, I will let you all know.

AMOS'S QUILT - FLYING GEESE

I started this quilt five years ago. My mother (Faye) can confirm that this was not an easy quilt to do...she worked on a few of the actual geese. I am so happy to get it finished. Just needs a border and the top will be done. It is an awfully long quilt....don't know if I like that or not.

CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!

I got this pattern off ebay. I wanted to make it so bad and so I did. I am hoping that I can sell it on ebay. This pattern was alot of fun.
Any suggestions on what to start out the bidding for? I will have to take a better picture, this picture is just not as cute as the actual quilt, the colors are not vivid as the actual quilt.
