Barbara's Quilt

Mom has been working on this quilt for sometime. She got the material for this quilt from the girls clothes when they were little and finially got it quilted this last year. Now she just has Jim and Beverly's(me) quilt to do and the grandkids. I just wanted to add that she hand stitched the squares and she hand quilted it...

Alyson's Quilt

I am make all my kids and inlaws a quilt along with my grandchildren. This one is for Alyson Who is married to Alfred. I have a lot of quilt tops so I let her pick out which one she wants. This is it. I finished Alfred's at the beginning of the year and Alyson's at the end.

Alfred's Quilt

Beverly made this quilt for her son Alfred who is a marine. I wanted to make red white and blue. I had a fun time making it. He sure does like it.

MY FABRIC FOR THE "BE ATTITUDE" QUILT

So I have my fabric picked out (for the quilt shown below). I need a blue, will have to go and look through my stash for a blue. This material I had purchased from "Connecting Threads" it was originally for a wall hanging. I still love the wall hanging but truly love what I am going to do with it now.

If you would like to see pictures of these blocks by another quilter go to Fit quilter She did a fantastic job, infact, she is the one that inspired me to start this one. My niece sent me the pattern and I just loved it but not until I saw that blog did I really get motivated to do one.

Also, most of you know this but the right kind of fusible is soooo important. I have some from garage sells, from Walmart and they all gum up my needle and just take all the fun out of machine appliqueing. So try and get the fusible that says on it that it will not gum up. I love the "Steam a Seam" and they are selling it on the online store I mentioned below or you can get it at Connecting Threads.com.

I am still waiting for my fusible...I guess while I am waiting, I will work on some projects that need to get done and my scrap pile.

"BE ATTITUDE" QUILT

Isn't this adorable??? My niece, Jennifer, and I are planning to make this quilt. If anyone else is wanting to do so with us, please let us know.

You can get the pattern at Soft Expressions, on sale for $12.80, was $16.00. Then you can go down to the post I have on an online quilt store that is going out of business and they are selling the fusible for $2.00 (which is a far cry from $4.80)....don't you think?

A TREASURE IN MY SCRAPS

I found these eight squares in my scraps. I am sure I got them from a garage sell but why in my scraps? Now, what to do with them? Any suggestions?
They are hand stitched.

WHAT THE SCRAP!!!!

No sewing was done yesterday. I had this huge (the biggest one they have) space bag full of scrap. That is right, scrap. Several years ago I went through it and took all the stips in my scrap bag and put them in four containers (very nice and neatly). I said I would never let that get so bad again... Well...hummmmmm, glad I didn't swear on it. So the night before last, I got out this huge scrap bag (under my sewing machine table that I use for a cutting board, always in my feet and knees way). So I got it out and started sorting.

Put all the left over scraps in that laundry basket, where it sits by the ironing board. I am ironing all the pieces and cutting them into different sized squares. Got this idea from my sister Jeanette....she didn't see the wheels turning in my head when she mentioned this. She didn't even know that I had four containers of strip material all lined up in the contaners nice and neatly. I will show you those later.

Then in the sorting process I put all the strips in one basket and the pieces big enough for applique projects in the small one (I have a bigger basket just like this one with even more fabric lined up in it). This a long drawn out process. The ironing board is in my dinning room along with the cutting board and stray fabric. My husband probably came in and said "What the scrap"? She is at it again!!! He would be so shocked to come home and actually not see any form of materail, tools or the likes sitting around the room.

CHICKEN AND STARS

I have one more left that is cut out and ready to go, ran out of fusing a few days ago.

"ONE PROJECT A MONTH"

Well, I guess I can call this my chicken month theme. David saw this and asked "Why is Dad getting another quilt?" I just had to smile because this had nothing to do with his dad. It has everything to do with the "ONE PROJECT A MONTH CHALLENGE, finishing my UFO's. So I am half way there with this one....must finish before January ends.

A TRISKET, A TASKET - Block One

I did this applique last night. It is not perfect by no means. For one, I need applique needles, these needles I have just make it bunch at the points. For two, I need more practice at making points. I strive for perfection but I just seem never to be able to obtain it. This block is from the block of the month, just go to www.bunnyhill.blogspot and get the pattern and join in on the fun!

HELLO MARGARET ARE YOU OUT THERE?????

Jeanete and I were visiting on Skye the other day (infact, it would be so great if all of you could get on skype and we could chat), it was so fun to actually have Jeanette ring me up in the middle of the day yesterday ...after I figured out what the sound was...well back to you Margaret.

Jeanette and I have had our heads together on the last three RR and she hosted the first two and I the last...well..we just thought you would like to host the next one or it will be the Row by Row one (not a threat). Maybe you and Toni can pull your brains together?

Okay....this is a clean site...no ##@@#### allowed. (only kidding).

Also...I did the RR for this time before Beverly Squires pulled out...and so there are only six rounds, we will be finishing earlier than what I had stated. So probably the 1st of August..don't have the sheets in front of me.

This has been alot of fun, I hope we can keep this up and more family members will join us.

Let me know what you think there Margaret...I don't mind hosting again but thought you would like to??? All of you should also take advantage of the blog giveaways if you have time to go and post...lots of material and quilt stuff out there...just click on the snowflake.
