DESIGN BY ME!!!

I paid a little gal to draw the octopus and then it sat around the house for a few months with ideas floating in my head and then one Saturday I just went to work. It was alot of fun and I think it will take maybe one day to complete. It only took about an hour and a half to do the blanket stitch around the octopus...not bad. This was alot of fun. Now I am making little cloth bags for the instructions to go in to. I tried to order the plastic bags on line but because where I live, it either wouldn't let me or charged me an arm and a leg (even when I was having it shipped to Kevin's)...oh well...these cloth bags are cute and who knows...may be my calling card? I am also including a life size octopus so there will be no enlarging...it is hand drawn but that is okay. I put mine on poster board to make it easier to draw around.

For everyone that is interested I heard from Barbara last night and they are doing fine. Their house is up on the hill. She said her husbands work got flooded but their house is okay. People who had to move to higher ground were parked in her yard and on the street. She lives on the other side of the mountain so she didnt see the tsunmai.

Baby Quilt

I made this baby quilt for a Anya's friend. Now I just have to quilt it.

Anya's Round Robin 2007

Anya and I decided about 2 weeks ago to finish her round robin. We put it together and she helped me quilt it a little bit. We want to thank everyone who was had a hand in making the squares. We really enjoyed doing this round robin.

Quilt for my mother-in-law

I made this quilt and decided that my mother-in-law would like it. Now I don't have that many more to do for others so I can start on mine.

Round Robin

I have heard so many complaints about this RR that it has taken all the fun out of it. I am sorry, if you all would have said something. One complaint was, they hate applique (no one said you had to applique on each block). One said that the finished quilt was not going to be big enough. One said they didn't like this RR...so that is it for me....I will not come up with anymore RR. I am trying not to take this personal...but this was suppose to be fun, not stressful, and was suppose to be a project from family members...could we not just enjoy it as such. So my apologies go out to all of you. Also....Toni, I felt like you did, that I needed to fill the spaces...don't fill them...just do what you want and send them on....then we will call it quits.

Just thought you young moms would love this or maybe us older moms might like to make them for our grandkids.

Round Robin.....

So I redid this twice and let's just say I need more pratice. This is for Tony's...

This square is for Maragret's.....not sure I like the orange, but it matches the orange with the birds....

So I tried the machine applique... not very good luck here.... I unpicked it twice and really should unpick it again... but alias I just want to be done with it... I should have done it by hand-- better control... maybe I should blame it on the machine... Sorry Barbara-- this square is for yours.... Please forgive me?

With these three squares in the mail Monday (hopefully).... I am done with my set of squares. I applogize to all of the Round robin participants for using this as a learning tool.... I will get better...

Bev Weatherspoons baby quilt made by Jeanette

Big Star

1st block- This is from a pattern out of the Big Star made Easy (there are 14 main patterns and this is the first one). I wanted to try this technique out because I like stars and hate the Y seam--- so I used some scraps (turns out that you need quite a bit of scraps and so I had to do some modifications) the reason you need so much is because it produces the following two squares in addition to the first... or you can just save the pieces for something else. I thought I would try it and here it how it looks so far.

2nd square or what the pattern calls bonus backing...

3rd square or the bonus square.

As you can see lots of material-- not sure I like this idea. This was for a wall hanging can you imagen how much is needed for a queen size quilt? I think I might have to modified... I will think on this.

THIS CALL GOES OUT TO ANY FAMILY MEMBER THAT WANTS ONE OF THESE QUILT TOPS

These are just some quilt tops, this first one I found at a garage sell, it is partly hand stitched and machine. It seems to be kinda old, don't know how old

This next one is a scrappy quilt, it needs a border (I am thinking a yellow would be wonderful).

So, if you are a family member and would like one of these tops, just let me know. Otherwise, I am going to put them on my blog Bejeweled Quilts for a giveaway. Let's say you have until the end of this coming week, July 10th, to respond and then I will post it on my blog for a giveaway. Thanks....

Aunt Dorthy's Quilt

This quilt mom pieced for her sister Dorothy who is 94 years old. I quilted it for her and mom put the binding on. She was thrilled to get it.

Friday, June 12, 2009

This quilt I had done for my son-in-law Joe but my daughter Anya said it was hers. So sorry Joe, I made you a quilt but your wife stole it.

This is a quilt that I made for my son Troy. Out of all the quilts that I have made he did not like them. I had to make sure it had no flowers in the material(which is hard, because I like flowers).

This is a quilt that I pieced for my daughter Beverly.

This is a quilt that I just finished from my grandson Chase Thompson.

My daughter Margaret made this quilt for me. She finished it while I was at her house.

MACHINE SEWING YOUR BINDING

I have a blogging friend over at "Nap Time News" that contacted me and gave me this link. This is where the gal binds her quilts on the sewing machine. She sews in the ditch on the front and catches the back while doing so. If you are interested, go to Patchwork times. I think it will be well worth your time and in the long run, save you time.

FRIDAY BLOCK PARTY

WEEK 20 - PINWHEELE #4

FRIDAY BLOCK PARTY

WEEK 21

WEEK 22

I kept saying since January when I joined "Friday Block Party", that I was going to keep up. Well....to my discredit, I have not even done one until today....I did two. You think I can catch up? It was soooo fun and goes so fast. What I like about it is that you do something different each time, no bordem here.
